Post-diagnostic support

Autism Therapy

**Please note, we have currently filled our available spaces for new therapeutic support and are not able to pick up more at this time.  We are still able to complete new Autism assessments and follow up support and have no wait time to start this process.  Please contact us if your enquiry is about Autism assessments and one of us will arrange a time to contact you.**

If you feel it would be helpful to have some further support after your diagnosis, we can offer some options for post diagnostic support.  We also accept referrals for post-diagnostic support when you or your child have received your diagnosis in a different place.  This would be with one of our Clinical Psychologists and can include brief support or longer therapeutic input depending on our capacity at the time and your needs.

This would be discussed on a case by case basis and there is no obligation to complete post-diagnostic support if you have received a diagnosis.  For many young people and/or their families, this is not needed and the report and recommendations is all they need.  Others find it helpful to have a space to talk after their diagnosis to understand what it means for them or for their child or to receive some guidance on specific things and help them to make sense of their experiences.

This support will be different for everyone but can include:

Support for parents - This can be to help you understand the diagnosis or to work on specific behaviours that may be distressing and think together about ways to approach supporting your child.  This could include strategies aimed at improving quality of life and identifying triggers for behaviours in order to support them.

Support for children and young people - Depending on the age of the young person, this may include offering them some brief support (e.g. 4 sessions) using a structured workbook to help them understand their diagnosis and what it means for them as well as learning more about their feelings. We are also able to offer ideas and practise strategies for when things are difficult and to support them to understand their unique strengths and skills.

Post-diagnostic support for adults - We offer post diagnostic support for adults who are neurodivergent (e.g., if you are autistic and / or have ADHD). We aim to work together in a supportive way to develop a shared understanding of your experiences and help you to improve your wellbeing. This can include introducing helpful ways of coping and approaching relationships for individuals. We can offer a space to understand what your diagnosis means and reflect back on previous experiences or additional support for your mental health.  We will support you based on your individual goals.

We currently only offer therapeutic support online and it is charged at £110 per session.  Please contact us to discuss your individual support needs.
